Global Narratives
Global Narratives
Global narratives provided here are presented only for global models assessed by the IPCC Sixth Assessment Report.
Country assessments investigate potential national decarbonisation pathways based on global models assessed by the IPCC 6th Assessment report and selected by Climate Analytics (see Methodology section 3), known as illustrative pathways. We explore here four different narratives that countries could follow to decarbonise their energy system. While each country profile will look at the nationally downscaled indicators, we provide here an overview of the models which are used to generate this project’s data.
The four chosen global pathways are the Deep Electrification pathway1, the Minimal CDR Reliance pathway2, the Net-Zero Commitments pathway3 and the Reduced Asset Stranding pathway4. A description of each of the four pathways can be found on this page, as well as their associated GHG/CO2 emissions and energy data as available.
These global pathways were produced for the Sixth Assessment of the IPCC, between 2019 and 2021, and therefore do not capture real world developments and emissions growth that have happened since.
